Why Get Involved
In order to revitalize the Kentwood Historical and Cultural Museum, Irma T. Gordon appointed the Kentwood Historical and Cultural Museum Redevelopment Committee. The museum moved to its new home this past summer thanks to the hard work of several committee members. The new museum will be housed in the old library. The committee's president is Ronald Harrell, and its vice-president is Antoinette Harrell. Christian Mounger was appointed as the committee's consultant. Mayor Gordon, Councilwoman Jakoiya Wilkerson, Councilman Mike Hall, and William Lawson also serve as committee members. The committee's main goals include preserving local history, increasing community engagement, and enhancing the museum's educational programs. They aim to attract a diverse range of visitors by offering interactive exhibits and special events.
The Town of Kentwood is making great progress, with the new Pilot coming, McDonald's on the way, and the new museum on the way. This past summer they held their second crawfish festival that attracted over 8,000 people. It was a huge event for a small town.
